The Sport Connect 2016 Forum, organized by the Interros Group and Russian International Olympic University, was held March 24–25 in Sochi. The event, which this year had «The Communications System in Sports» as its central theme, is expected to become an annual communication platform for sports professionals from many different fields.
Anton Muravyev, the head of the Interros Group Public Relations Department, stated that the Forum’s primary aim is to create a space for professional interaction and a community of engaged experts who through their participation in Sport Connect will gain knowledge that fosters the development of sports in Russia.
Delegates from the leading sports clubs — the RFPL (Russian Football Premier League) and KHL, the (Kontinental Hockey League), Olympic sports federations, marketing agencies and large companies, famous sports journalists, and bloggers came from Russia’s many regions, including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Norilsk, Ufa, and Kazan, to attend the Forum. The first day of the Forum was fully dedicated to several thematic sessions on the thorniest issues in the sports industry. Leaders in the field presented stories of the development of their brands. On the second day, the participants themselves took the floor to address communication challenges at workshops on management and journalism.
In the words of one of the attendees, the Forum ended up being a collaborative, dynamic, and engaging training opportunity. «Some generously shared their invaluable experience; others welcomed knowledge and considered how to apply it to the issues they face», said Marcel Magizov of Sport Business Online (Kazan).
