VLADIMIR POTANIN ALLOCATES 24 MLN RUB TO SUPPORT NATIONAL ENDOWMENTS
Vladimir Potanin will provide financial support of 19 mln rub to eight Russian endowment foundations. It was announced June 2 at the Conference "Endowments: Pro et Contra” which took place in Moscow.

In 2012-2014, the Vladimir Potanin Foundation conducted a pilot two-year program. The program aimed at raising awareness of non-for-profit organizations, potential donors and all stakeholders in the application of the endowment model as an effective tool for advancing NGO sustainability and development, as well as at promotion of effective fundraising.

In 2013 based on the interim results, using his personal assets Vladimir Potanin made a contribution to the endowments for 5 non-for-profit organizations which took part in the Program and demonstrated real breakthrough in fundraising.  In June 2014 once participants completed working on their projects  Vladimir Potanin made contributions to the endowments for 8 non-for-profit organizations. Total contributions amounted to 24 million rubles.

Vladimir Potanin: “Through infinite energy and outstanding enthusiasm the program members have successfully proved that endowment foundation and development can be totally successful in Russian environment. Endowments are vital for sustainable funding of non-profit organizations, they are intended for future generations, thus my contributions to members’ endowments make up the right base for the future. And I’m sure that endowment is available to everyone while collective endowments provide for prosperity of universities, hospitals or museums – a clear evidence that a certain organization is really valuable for the society”.

In 2013-2014 based on the projects implementation, using his personal assets Vladimir Potanin made a contribution to the  endowments  of non-for-profit organizations which took part in the Program and demonstrated real breakthrough in fundraising:
  • Tomsk State University Endowment Foundation, Tomsk (3 mln)
  • Ural Federal University Endowment Foudation, Yekaterinburg (3 mln)
  • Penza Community Foundation “Civil Unity”, Penza (3 mln)
  • “Our Faculty of History” Endowment Foundation, Moscow (2 mln)
  • Hermitage Endowment, St Petersburg (2 mln)
  • Peterhof Endowment, St Petersburg (2 mln)
  • MGIMO Endowment Foundation, Moscow (2 mln)
  • Liberal Arts and Sciences Program Endowment Foundation, St Petersburg State University (2 mln)

Official distribution of certificates will take place in home regions of grantee organizations.
