The second conference will focus on specific ways to grow sustainable tourism in different climates. Russia is a very large country, and every part of it is unique, which must inevitably be taken into account when launching tourism projects. We created five booths to represent various climate zones of Russia – the Arctic, the Russian North, the Temperate Zone, South and East — where Russian and foreign participants will be able to discuss issues, and share best practices and insights. Sustainable Tourism: Global Challenges and Discovering Russia, an international conference, will take place in Sochi from the 17th to the 20 th of October. Well-known subject-matter experts, managers of natural protected areas, specialized tour operators, experienced guides, industry representatives and environmentalists from all over the world will gather for a comprehensive discussion about challenges, opportunities and milestones on the path towards sustainable development of ecotourism in Russia and worldwide; they will also outline a plan to cooperate in order to achieve further progress.

In 2011 Vladimir Potanin made a donation to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate the Center’s forty year anniversary. As a result of the collaboration between the Foundation and the Center with the support of the Embassy of the Russia to the US a reconstruction of the largest Lounge of the Center took place.
