Sport Connect, a forum for sports industry professionals organized by Interros Group in the city of Kazan, came to an end.
Forum attendees included participants from Spain, Finland and Russia’s leading sports clubs. More than 200 people from Moscow, Kazan, Perm, Ufa and other cities attended the event.

The Forum’s main sponsors included the Interros Group, RIOU (Russian International Olympic University), Business Online publication, and the Povolzhsky Academy of Fitness, Sports and Tourism.

Several leading football professionals from Spain presented at the event. The head of La Liga’s
Russia office, Mr. Daniel Cerejido noted that they are not planning for Spain’s main championship to become more popular than Russia’s domestic premier league. He believes that Russian fans will first support Spartak, Zenith or Rubin, before going for Real or Barcelona. Mr. Antonio Ortega, Director of international development at the Betis football club shared amazing statistical data about his club, namely that the club sold 52 thousand subscriptions, while the arena’s capacity is 60 thousand people. His colleague Eduardo Valdes from Eibar football club explained how a small club that employs only 15 people markets itself in Japan and engages with a large number of sponsors, including internationally.
Forum participants also met Jesse Kiuru, Director of Projects from the Events Department of Lakhti city. In Finland the city is considered to be the winter sports capital. SKA and Ak Barsa represented hockey at the Forum. The head of the Saint-Petersburg club’s online marketing service, Mr. E.Nogtev, explained how SKA uses the web to promote itself; Mr. S. Prudnikov, the head of the center of marketing projects implementation of Ak Barsa, described how over the last season the club from Kazan built their marketing efforts around hashtag #Айда.
Additionally, Mr. Yu. Yakubov, rector of the Povolzhski Academy of Sports and Tourism described how a regional institute has become a center of excellence for seven regions in Russia and now trains winners for various competitions throughout the world.
Saint-Petersburg’s squash federation’s vice-president, Mr. A. Odintsov offered suggestions for how to make the best use of a limited budget to promote a little-known sport that is nonetheless practiced by Zemfira and many other celebrities worldwide. Marketers from Khimki basketball team Mr. V. Korshkov and Mr. A. Dudnik discussed a successful program to bus fans from the nearby cities. At the same time they abandoned outdoor advertisement and increased attendance indicators for their team. Mr. I. Balakirev, key client manager from Zenith presented two major case studies on working with premium-level sponsors Gazprom-Neft and MegaFon.

Anton Muraviev, Director of Communications of the Interros Group said the following about Sport Connect brand:
“ When 3 years ago we were launching Sport Connect Forum, we could not even imagine that the project would go beyond the Sochi event. Yet, every year it takes on new forms through clubs and networks, all the while broadening its geographic scope. Still, it remains the same at its core.
