FACTS AND FIGURES

  • 10,500 people — Rosa Khutor's daily capacity
  • 140 days a year — length of the ski season
  • 100 km — total length of trails
  • 13 km of courses certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) for international competitions at the highest level, such as the European Cup and the Olympic Games
  • 68% of trails are located at least 1500 m above sea level, mainly facing north. In addition, 42% of runs are in areas supplied with artificial snow
  • In the 2013-2014 season there were 18 ski lifts (5 gondola lifts, 9 chairlifts, 2 T-bar lifts, 2 “magic carpets”); total number of ski lifts after construction is completed — 20 (the lifts are by leading manufacturers: Doppelmayr, Poma)
  • It takes 25 minutes on a high-speed lift to travel the 1745 m to the top of the slope

 
 

 

  • After the 2014 Olympics there will be 10 hotels (6 on the bottom, in the Rosa Valley, and 4 in the mountaintop Olympic Village) with 1650 rooms in the resort. 1700 apartments are also being built
  • The highest point on Aibga Ridge —  Kamenny Stolb peak — rises 2509 m above sea level

  • Total investment in construction — 69 bln rub, including the investors' own funds and loans; a confirmed line of credit from VEB of 55.7 bln rub; and a government contract for non-commercial expenditures exclusively for the Sochi Olympics totaling nearly 16 bln rub
  • 25 mln rub is allocated annually by Rosa Khutor for compensatory environmental measures
  • 41,000 trees and shrubs were planted as part of environmental mitigation efforts.

This year good snow cover may allow ski runs to open as early as the middle of December. For the new season, the ski resort has significantly extended its ski runs, from 77 to 94 kilometers, and put three new cable cars into service.

Three green stars out of five possible and the VERY GOOD grade is the result of the hard work of the staff of Rosa Khutor on the construction of the 163 rooms’ hotel.
