«Interros» Publishing Program

«Interros» Company launched the Publishing Program in 2001. The purpose of this humanitarian project was to participate through book publishing and exhibition activities in the actual educational cultural processes. In seven years the Publishing Program of «Interros» released over 20 books on history, arts, culture and philosophy. The book in the Program is a primary universal element of cultural environment, which is the center of exhibition, scientific and educational activities. Thus every new publication (or a series of books) becomes a starting point for further development of the announced topic, while the Publishing Program is the institution serving the aim to initiate and coordinate the cultural processes.

Thus the album dedicated to the Great Patriotic War «1418» has become an organizing basis for a separate multimedia project, which was jointly staged by the Publishing Program and the Moscow House of Photography. This joint project resulted in a photo exhibition «1418», a documentary under the same title and establishment of a site, publication of a brochure of children’s essays on the topic «My Family in the Great Patriotic War».

Spring 2006 saw the publication of a quite unusual book «Book IV. Central TV», which was presented as a video installation at the International Exhibition of Modern Art «Art Moscow». It had become a characterful culmination of a book series that included books «Russian Theater», «Soviet Movies» and «Our Cartoons».

At the same time the Publishing Program initiated and organized another event of the «Art Moscow»: International Conference «Education and Modern Art». The Conference combined opinions of the key Russian and foreign experts on the problem of training specialists in the sphere of modern art. The latest exhibition and educational projects of the Program were presented at the Second Moscow Biennale 2007, a cultural event of global significance. It had become another step in the integration of Russia into the world art context. Jointly with the «Modern City» Foundation and Moscow Museum of Modern Art», the «Interros» Publishing Program organized an exhibition «Urbanistic Formalism» and published a book under the same title. The Publishing Program supported the project «Intellectual Realism» within the framework of the Second Moscow Biennale. This project explored the ties of contemporary Russian artists with the traditions of the national school of critical realism. The project was crowned with an exhibition in the State Tretyakov Gallery.

Parallel to the main events of the Biennale the main hall of the Central House of Artists at the Krymsky Val hosted a joint project of the Publishing Program, «New» Foundation, Embassy of the French Republic and French Cultural Center, a major exhibition of one of the key contemporary French artists P. Sorin «Videojump. Eccentric Movies».

Continuing its educational projects the Publishing Program initiated and conducted International Philosophic Conference «Creating Intellectual Worlds» (first stage in November 2006 and the second stage in February 2007), which had become a kind of ideological and conceptual prologue for the Second Moscow Biennale of Modern Art. The Conference resulted in a publication of «Ten Reports for the International Philosophic Conference «Creating Intellectual Worlds», which contained special reports by the leading Russian and European philosophers of today.

Video reports of the Conference became the basis for an interactive video installation «Eight Reports Delivered at the International Philosophic Conference «Creating Intellectual Worlds»’ which was presented in the framework of the main exhibition of the Biennale.

In June 2007 the «Interros» Publishing Program, among others, became the sponsor of the Russian pavilion at the 52nd International Biennale of Modern Art in Venice. The Program published a catalogue of the Russian exhibition.

While remaining a private investment company «Interos» strives for innovations, realizing that everything new stays in the zone of risk. That demands high professionalism. However this is a conscious risk based on confidence in one’s capabilities and intellectual potential.
