The Flame was carried to the mountain cluster by “Lastochka” electric train. The Olympic torch relay route started at the railway station along the embankments of Rosa Khutor resort to the Rosa square.

The meeting ceremony of the Olympic Torch started at 5:00 pm, when the folk band Buranovskie Babushki appeared on the stage of Live Site. They sang “Olympic Games” and their new hit — “Veterok”, that they recorded specially for the Olimpics-2014.

The torchbearer who carried the Flame to the main square of Rosa Khutor became a two-time Olympic medalist citizen of Sochi Alexey Voevoda. The famous sportsmen as a member of national team will compete in the bobsleigh event at the XXII Winter Olympic Games.

It's symbolic that the first day of the Olympic Torch Relay in Sochi finished on the main square of Rosa Khutor. All competitions in Alpine skiing, snowboard and freestyle will be held on the slopes of the resort. The highest number of the Olympic medals — 30 sets of medals- will be awarded here.

On February 6, men’s and ladies’ snowboard slopestyle qualification and ladies’ moguls qualification will be held on the trails of Rosa Khutor. The slopestyle discipline is included into the program of the Olympic Games for the first time.
