VLADIMIR PUTIN AND VLADIMIR POTANIN TO DISCUSS NORILSK NICKEL’S MODERNIZATION PROGRAM AND SOCIAL PROJECTS
Norilsk Nickel will not cut its investment program despite weak economic conditions, President of Interros and Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 11th.
Norilsk Nickel will spend about 800 bln rubles on an upgrade program until 2020. «Investments are provided in the amount of approximately 800 bln rubles, including nearly 300 bln rubles for the ecological projects. This is a project of an unprecedented scale related to application of new technologies never used before», Vladimir Potanin said.
Norilsk Nickel will be able to overcome the challenging economic period without the investment cut, added the company’s president. Social standards are no less important for Norilsk Nickel, pointed out Vladimir Potanin. In particular, the company approved the collective agreement for the next five years without any deductions, he said.
At the same time, there is no stimulating program for companies working on prevention of environmental damage, President of Norilsk Nickel stressed. «I would like to request you to support such an idea and ask the government to work out measures that may stimulate investors into prevention of environmental damage», Vladimir Potanin said addressing the head of state.
«Let us think how to formulate this as a working document», replied Vladimir Putin.
