Rosbank placed fourth ina rating ofmajor Russian brands and became the only representative ofthe financial sector among top five companies. Top rankings went toBeeLine, MTS and Baltika.
The cost ofthe banksbrand was estimated byInterbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux at$1,424million. According toAlexander Popov, Chairman ofthe Board ofRosbank, the investment inthe brand development including the marketing research, consulting, and design costs did not exceed $1 mln (excluding implementation expenses), while the total investments inthe brandsformation and maintenance during 1999-2003 amounted toabout $7 mln.
The Best Russian Brands 2005 are the 40Russian brands with abrand value ofover $7 million. They were selected according tothe following criteria: The branded products/services are tobe produced onRussian territory, nomatter who owns the company orthe brand. But the brand has tobelong tosomeone that iswhy for example widely known traditional branded crafts such asGjel are not inthe ranking. Noparent company brands were evaluated (such asAvtovas, orKalina). The brand has tohave astrong nationwide presence. For brands that belong tocompanies which are more than 50% state-owned, the brand index was lowered. This results ina lower brand value. The brand values were calculated onthe basis ofpublicly available financial and marketing information.
The listed brand value expresses the current value ofanticipated future revenue that would begenerated solely due tothe presence ofthe brand. Interbrand Group Ltd. valuates the brands byapplying the Groups own widely recognized method, used worldwide.
